rustserverlist.online is an independent monitoring and ranking service for Rust game servers, run under the MAJESTAT NETWORK banner. We track servers around the clock, publish what we measure — player counts, uptime, wipes, maps, PVP statistics — and give server owners the tools to manage their own listing, including a Web RCON console that works straight from the browser. Using the site costs nothing and requires no account; a Steam sign-in only unlocks the personal features.
Rust has thousands of public servers and no single, honest place to compare them. Official listings show a name and a ping; they do not tell you whether a server was up all week, when it last wiped, how crowded it really gets in the evening, or whether anyone still plays there. That gap is what this project fills.
Every server we know about gets a permanent profile with its live status, player history, map, wipe schedule, uptime record and — where the operator opted in — full PVP and playtime statistics. Players get their own cross-server profiles keyed to their SteamID. Nothing here is pay-to-win: paid promotion never changes a ranking position, because the rankings are computed from measurements, not from budgets.
We poll each server over the game's own query protocol every few minutes: name, map, player count, tags, server FPS. This is the same data the game client sees, so it cannot be faked in our direction.
Servers running our Majestat plugin report in continuously and can additionally send verified PVP events — kills, deaths, Heli and Bradley takedowns — and per-player playtime. These are the servers marked as verified.
We periodically walk the Steam master server list, so a public Rust server usually appears here on its own, without anyone submitting it.
A separate probe records availability over time and keeps per-server metrics, which is what feeds the activity charts and the uptime figure. Servers that go dark stay listed for a while with a red light before dropping off — they are never silently deleted from the database.
Every server on the list has a popularity score from 0 to 100%. The player count alone only tells you who is online right now — popularity tells you whether a server is really alive: people play on it all day, rate it and talk about it on its Pulse. A server that sits empty with no interest from anyone drops to the bottom.
| Factor | Weight | Period | How we count it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Players | 40 % | 24 h | Average number of players over the last 24 hours, in 10-minute steps — time offline counts as zero. Capped at the server slots (anti-spoof). |
| Player rating | 20 % | all time | Average of 1–5★ votes, weighted by the number of votes: a single 5★ vote does not beat dozens of honest ratings, and a server without votes gets nothing here. |
| Pulse posts | 12 % | 30 days | Posts and events on the server Pulse — owner posts, wipes, records, map votes. |
| Likes | 12 % | 30 days | Likes minus dislikes under the server Pulse posts. The owner's own votes do not count. |
| Comments | 10 % | 30 days | Comments under Pulse posts and on the server profile. The owner's own comments do not count. |
| Followers | 6 % | all time | Players who added the server to their favourites. |
Each factor is compared with a strong server in the network (the 90th percentile) on a logarithmic scale — the first likes or players matter a lot, thousands more only add a little. The total is the popularity score.
Points for players depend on how many people actually play (24-hour average), not on how full the server is. Slots only matter as an anti-spoof cap. Thanks to the logarithmic scale a small server is not crushed by a big one: twice as many players adds a few points, not twice as many. A full 5/5 server is not “100% popular” — a server with 150 players simply has more people playing.
| Average players / slots | Fill | Points for players |
|---|---|---|
| 5 / 5 | 100 % | 22 / 40 |
| 10 / 50 | 20 % | 29 / 40 |
| 20 / 100 | 20 % | 37 / 40 |
| 50 / 100 | 50 % | 40 / 40 |
| 150 / 300 | 50 % | 40 / 40 |
Reference now: a strong server in the network has about 25 players on average — that gives the full 40 points.
On the list you can sort by popularity (column header or “Sort” menu) and set “Popularity from … %” — e.g. 70 shows only servers above 70%. Hover over the score to see what it is made of. Popularity is recalculated every 10 minutes and, like every ranking here, cannot be bought.
We publish measurements, not declarations. Player counts come from the server itself, rankings are recomputed from raw events, and a server cannot edit its own numbers — only its description. Sign-in uses Steam OpenID, so we never see your password; we store your SteamID and the public profile data Steam hands us. RCON credentials, if you give them, are encrypted at rest with libsodium and used only server-side to open the console session. Statistics can be reset from your account at any time.
Yes. Browsing, rankings, server profiles and the Web RCON console cost nothing. There is no paid ranking boost — a position in the ranking cannot be bought, because it is computed from measured data.
No. An account is only needed to vote, comment, save favourites, claim a server or reset your own statistics. Signing in goes through Steam, so we never see a password.
We ask the server itself over the game query protocol, and servers running our plugin also report in directly. We never take a player count from a form the owner filled in.
Public servers are usually picked up automatically from the Steam master list within a day or so. If yours has not shown up, add it manually — and if it is private or LAN-only, discovery will not see it.
It runs our Majestat plugin, so PVP events and playtime come straight from the game server rather than being estimated. Only verified servers feed the global rankings.
Yes. Owners can claim a listing and manage it, and players can reset their statistics from their account. Write to us for anything the panel does not cover.
Popularity (0–100%) combines the average number of players over the last 24 hours, player ratings and activity on the server Pulse in the last 30 days — posts, likes and comments — plus followers. It shows which servers are really alive, not just which have players at this exact moment. It is recalculated every 10 minutes and cannot be bought.
